Mat Toyu, (Todhus se nyaba’a Gellar). is a writer, cultural advocate, and prospective PhD candidate in the field of Social Work. (It is my sincere hope to be accepted into the university I have long aspired to join). With a background in language and welfare studies, he explores the intersections of local wisdom, identity, and social resilience, particularly within marginalized communities.

He is the founder and curator of Lalampan.com, a literary and cultural platform dedicated to preserving the Madurese language and creative expressions through poetry, short stories, essays, and cultural commentary. His academic interests center on community narratives, language as cultural capital, and the role of literature in fostering social change.

Mat Toyu envisions a future where indigenous languages like Bahasa Madura are not only preserved but also actively engaged with on a global scale — through education, research, and cultural diplomacy.
